Ola Aina, Abraham, Solanke Hold UEFA YL Records For English Clubs
Published: September 06, 2017Three former England U19 internationals of Nigerian descent Tammy Abraham, Dominic Solanke and Ola Aina are among the most successful players to have represented English clubs in the UEFA Youth League.
According to the official website of UEFA Tammy Abraham and Dominic Solanke are both the all-time top scorers for English clubs in the competition, with twelve goals to their names each.
The two promising attackers needed three goals to equal the all-time record currently held by Borja Mayoral (Real Madrid) and Roberto Núñez (Atletico Madrid), who found the net 15 times.
Swansea City striker Abraham was on target against Sporting CP (2), NK Maribor, AS Roma, Maccabi Tel Aviv (3), Dynamo Kiev (4) and Anderlecht during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 season.
Liverpool starlet Solanke scored his goals against Schalke 04, NK Maribor (2), Sporting CP (4), Zenit St Petersburg, Atletico Madrid, As Roma (2) and Shakhtar Donetsk.
Super Eagles invitee Ola Aina made his debut in the UEFA Youth League against Swiss side FC Basel on November 26, 2013, and he is the first player representing an English club to have amassed 20 appearances in the competition.
