Most Fielded U21 Players In Europe: Uzoho, Awaziem, Uduokhai, Abraham, Ifeanyi Make List
Published: November 20, 2017Football statisticians CIES Football Observatory have published on their website the 10 most fielded footballers per position born in or after 1997 in both the big-5 leagues and 26 other top division European championships.
Five Nigerian players Francis Uzoho (Deportivo de La Coruña), Chidozie Awaziem (Nantes), Felix Uduokhai (Wolfsburg), Tammy Abraham (Chelsea) and Ifeanyi Matthew (Lillestrom) made the list, with the first four representing teams in the top five leagues in Europe.
Newly capped Nigeria international Uzoho is the third most fielded goalkeeper in Europe's top five leagues, and has lasted 18 percent of the total minutes in the games played in the Spanish top-flight this term.
For central defenders, Germany youth international Uduokhai is the third most used player in his position and has been involved in 83 percent of the total minutes, Chidozie Awaziem is seventh on the list (57 percent).
Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham is the third most fielded striker in Europe's big five leagues with 91 percent, behind Watford's Richarlison de Andrade (94 %) and Bordeaux's Malcom Filipe (92 %)
In other European Leagues, outside the top five, ex-Flying Eagles star Ifeanyi Matthew is the most fielded defensive midfielder (100 percent), he has started and gone the distance in every single game played by the Canaries since July 2, 2017.
