Former Manchester City defender Onuoha assesses Arsenal's Premier League title chances

Former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha has weighed in on Arsenal's chances of winning the Premier League this season, expressing doubt despite the Gunners' narrow 1-0 victory over Ipswich Town on Friday night.

The win at the Emirates Stadium lifted Arsenal to second place on the table, narrowing the gap to six points behind leaders Liverpool.

The result has reignited speculation about Arsenal's ability to overtake the Reds, especially after narrowly missing out on the title in the last two seasons to Manchester City.

During an analysis on ESPN FC, Onuoha remained cautious about Arsenal's prospects, citing Liverpool's current dominance.

"I think obviously in the longtime maybe they could be a threat," Onuoha said. "But if you look at the team right now maybe Liverpool far away feels like the best team in there."

He highlighted Liverpool's attacking prowess and consistency against lower-ranked teams, adding that their ability to score multiple goals and maintain defensive stability sets them apart.

"The way they play against some of the sides low down the table, you just have to believe they are going to score and not just once, it's going to be two, three. I think defensively overall they have been pretty good.

"I think when you have that sort of attacking potential there's no game when you watch them play when you are concerned that maybe they won't be able to find the winner.

"You know with the likes of Salah, who is the Premier League's top scorer as well. I have got a turn of believe in them."

Onuoha also praised Liverpool's overall cohesion and form, suggesting that only a significant injury or major drop in performance could derail their title hopes.

"For Liverpool fans themselves, they are right to be a little bit anxious in such a long season and they have faced disappointment before but the park they are chasing right now they feel the same as some of the park and individual teams we have seen in the years gone back.

"To watch Liverpool play, they face feel really different to other top sides right now. It seems like it is going to be theirs, unless there's going to be a significant injury or like a major drop off in form."

Arsenal's performance has been commendable this season, but with Liverpool showing no signs of slowing down, the Gunners may face yet another uphill battle in their quest for Premier League glory.
