Amkar Perm Inform RFU Idowu Has Not Changed Nationality From Russian To Nigerian
Russian Premier League club Amkar Perm have informed the Russian Football Union (RFU) that Brian Idowu has not changed his nationality from Russian to Nigerian.

The Amkar Perm defender wore the jersey of the Super Eagles for the first time in his career against Argentina on November 14 in Krasnodar, but Amkar Perm have reiterated that he will still count as a Russian citizen nonetheless.

Excluding Idowu, Amkar Perm have eleven foreigners in their ranks, including Super Eagles midfielder Fegor Ogude.

For the 2017-2018 season, the Executive Committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU) still adopted the 6 + 5 rule, in which there can be a maximum of six foreigners and at least five Russians on the pitch.

''Is Idowu considered a foreigner? We inquired about this issue. The RFU was told that he was Russian,'' Amkar Perm manager Gadzhi Gadzhiyev was quoted as saying by Sport Express Russia.

It is not illegal for Idowu to obtain a Nigerian passport but he must inform the Russian authorities within 60 days of receiving the document.
