Chelsea Go Head-To-Head With Man Utd In Battle To Sign Arsenal Superstar
Published: January 16, 2018Manchester City have passed up the opportunity to sign Arsenal's Chile superstar Alexis Sanchez ahead of city rivals Manchester United, according to reports.
The Sun has reported that The Citizens have now pulled the plug on their year-long pursuit and left United in pole position to sign Sanchez, ahead of Chelsea.
To facilitate the transfer of Sanchez, Manchester United have offered Henrikh Mkhitaryan as makeweight in the deal and the Armenian was left out of the squad that beat Stoke City in the Premier League on Monday night.
The 29-year-old refuses to renew his contract with Arsenal that ends next June and the London club must sell him this January to recoup some of their previous investment in the player.
Gunners manager Arsene Wenger admitted on Sunday that the future of the Chilean will be resolved today after he failed to travel to Bournemouth.
Chelsea are willing to pay Arsenal £35million for Sanchez but the stumbling block to the deal is that they are unwilling to pay the winger's agent £5million.
Arsenal could sign the young Brazilian of Bordeaux, Malcom , to replace Alexis Sanchez .
