Fifa Rankings: Super Eagles Are West Africa's Second Best; Argentina, Croatia, Iceland in Top 20
Published: March 15, 2018Football governing body, Fifa, on Thursday, March 15 published its latest rankings of National Teams.
Compared to their position the previous month, the Super Eagles are static meaning they retained their global position of 52, while they are seventh in the continental ranking.
Tunisia, Senegal, Congo DR, Morocco and Egypt are the top five teams in Africa in that order.
Our three rivals in the group stage of Russia 2018 World Cup - Argentina, Croatia and Iceland - sit in the 4th, 15th and 18th place respectively in the updated rankings.
South Africa, Libya and Seychelles, Nigeria's opponents in Group E of the 2019 African Nations Cup qualifiers, are in the 76th, 99th and 191st positions respectively.
The Super Eagles next two opponents Poland and Serbia are ranked 6th and 34th respectively.
There were no changes in the top five. Germany top the ranking, with Brazil, Portugal and Belgium completing the best five teams in the world.
The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 12 April 2018.
