Man Utd Midfielder Invited To Train With Super Eagles After Pledging Future To Nigeria
Published: March 25, 2018Manchester United midfielder Tosin Kehinde has pledged his international future to Nigeria ahead of England, where he was raised, allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed.
The Lagos-born starlet and his representatives held talks with Nigeria Football Federation Vice President Shehu Dikko, Secretary General Mohammed Sanusi and manager Gernot Rohr at the Super Eagles Crowne Plaza Hotel in London on Sunday.
The Nigerian Federation immediately invited him to train with the Super Eagles at the Hive Stadium but Kehinde could not accept the offer due to club commitments.
Manchester United U23s are in a precarious position on the Premier League 2 table and manager Ricky Sbragia is taking the squad to Scotland before the crucial clash against Sunderland on April 6.
Born 18 June 1998, Kehinde is not eligible to represent the Flying Eagles at the next World Cup in Poland, as all players must be a maximum of 20 years old by the end of the calendar year in which the competition is played.
Playing for the Super Eagles at the 2018 World Cup in Russia might be a long shot for Kehinde but he stands a very good chance of earning a call-up to the Dream Team VII ahead of the 2019 All Africa Games.
The 19-year-old has trained several times with United's first team this season and hopes to be included in the first team squad for pre-season training this summer.
