Awurum Outshines Musa Yahaya As Porto B Lose At Varzim
Published: April 04, 2018Varzim's hopes of avoiding relegation were kept alive after they beat Porto B 3-1 on Wednesday evening at the Estádio Varzim Sport Club with Nigerian striker Stanley Awurum scoring for the second consecutive game.
He went the distance for Varzim while former Tottenham Hotspur trainee Musa Yahaya started his 18th game in the Segunda Liga this season.
The home team established a two-goal lead at the interval courtesy of goals from Rui Coentrão and Nelsinho.
Stanley Awurum then ended the game as a contest when he scored Varzim's third goal seven minutes into the second half, before Bruno Costa grabbed a consolation goal for Porto B six minutes from time.
Having struggled for game time at topflight club Portimonense in the first half of the season, the 27-year-old was loaned out to Varzim in the January transfer window for the rest of this season.
After 31 matches, Varzim occupy the 12th position in the standings with 40 points while Porto, who cannot be promoted as the main team compete in the Liga NOS, are seventh with 49 points.
