Iceland's Everton Star: Nigeria Are A Top Team, We Have A Good Chance Of Qualifying
Published: April 26, 2018Everton attacking midfielder Gylfi þór Sigurðsson is optimistic that Iceland will qualify for the last sixteen of the World Cup even though they are in a tough group containing Argentina, Nigeria and Croatia.
The Cinderella team of the 2016 European Championship did not lose their first two games in France, drawing 1-1 with Portugal and Hungary, and Sigurðsson believes they they will get out of the group if they don't lose to Argentina and Nigeria.
''The possibilities are fine. These are three games against the top teams. These are all different teams. If we make positive results in the first game then everything is possible,'' Sigurðsson said to fotbolti.net.
''We showed it at the European Championship when we achieved positive results against Portugal and we got out of the group.
''If there is a similar atmosphere and we get similar results in the first two games at the World Cup then I think we have a good chance.''
