Chippa United Fans To Akpeyi: We Will Be Rooting For You, Nigeria At World Cup
Published: May 20, 2018Chippa United fans took out time to bid Nigerian goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi farewell as he prepares to join the national team for the World Cup preparations next month.
They have shown solidarity towards his proposed adventure with the Super Eagles, if the scenes at the Port Elizabeth International Airport on Sunday are anything to go by.
The former Warri Wolves goalkeeper who was named to Gernot Rohr's 30-man provisional roster for the competition missed out on the Poland and Serbia friendlies in March due to visa hitches but is well expected to hook up with the team this time around, with the blessings and well wishes from the PSL club.
Just as the club are hoping, Akpeyi is certain to be one of the three goalkeepers Rohr would be taking to the mundial next month after his no show in the 2014 edition.
Below are some of the wishes from the club's faithful trailing the tweet about his imminent departure to join his national team..
@Unathi_Kwaza:''Good for him hey! Our Bafana Bafana team will be watching on couches at home.😀''.
@nathi_mdy: ''Kuthiwani kanene ngesiXhosa,”Good Gesture from Chippa”. Uba irongo, omnye nomye unelungelo lolungisa, okusalayo iyavakaya ityiwa ezinkobeni. Uhambe kakuhle mfana and represent your Country, PSL & Chippa.''
@sinethembafp: ''We will be rooting for you and your teammates Daniel.''
