Rohr Hints Chinese-Based Duo Mikel & Ighalo Will Be Rested Against DR Congo
Published: May 28, 2018Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has hinted that Chinese-based duo John Obi Mikel and Odion Ighalo will be rested for the international friendly against Democratic Republic of Congo this evening in Port Harcourt.
The Changchun Yatai frontman and Tiajin Teda midfielder have started and completed all the league matches played by their respective clubs, eleven in total, and will need a short rest following the long trip from China.
The German will hand debuts to Crotone striker Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo and Kano Pillars scoring sensation Junior Lokosa against the Leopards.
''We have prepared well, it was a very good training session in Shell company, no rain, not too hot,'' Rohr told reporters including allnigeriasoccer.com, after Sunday's workout.
''I think we are ready for a good game. We will change our team a little bit because I have to see some of our players especially the new ones like Lokosa and Simy, they will start the game.
''Some of our players who need competition will have opportunity to play and some of our players who need a little bit rest because they are coming from China a few days ago, they will have a little bit rest.
''It was a good training session today, I am satisfied about the conditions in Port Harcourt.''

Barring unforeseen developments, Ighalo and of course Mikel are certain to be included in the Super Eagles 23-man World Cup squad.
