Rohr Reveals Only TWO Positives From Super Eagles Loss To Czech Republic
Published: June 07, 2018Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has revealed only two positives from Nigeria's 1-0 loss to Czech Republic in a pre-World Cup friendly on Wednesday afternoon.
Leading up to the clash at the Rudolf-Tonn-Stadion (Schwechat), there had been concerns over the match fitness of Wilfred Ndidi but the Leicester City midfielder proved his doubters wrong with an assured performance, going the full ninety instead of the one hour he was supposed to spend on the pitch.
Another good news is that the likes of Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi, Leon Balogun and the over utilized William Troost-Ekong came through the game unscathed and are in line to play against Croatia next week, barring an injury in training.
''The positive that we can take from the game is coach Gernot Rohr said he wants to see Wilfred Ndidi, we saw him play ninety minutes and we saw him play at a very high level,'' Super Eagles Media Officer Toyin Ibitoye told Channels Television.
''He was giving as much as he was taking, kicks and tackles, and he came off it very well, so that is a good sign for us.
''We are also happy that we played that game and all the players are in good shape.
''At some point the game became difficult, the weather was very, very tough to play in, it was raining heavily and such games you can pick up knocks and muscle injuries but we are happy our players came through it.''
The Super Eagles will continue preparations for their World Cup opener against Croatia at their training camp in Austria on Thursday.
