Set-Piece Troubles : Iceland Coach Names Two Super Eagles Stars Who Are Extremely Good In The Air
Published: June 21, 2018Speaking at the pre-match press conference on Thursday, Iceland manager Heimir Hallgrímsson has named two Super Eagles players who are extremely good in the air amid fears that the three-time African champions are struggling to defend set-pieces.
Nigeria have conceded four goals from set-pieces in their last three international games and the Icelandic coach was asked if his team will exploit that weakness in tomorrow's game at the Volgograd Arena.
''Your players are really good in the air, I think. Ndidi and Ighalo are probably one of the best guys in the air in the tournament, so this is just normal for us, we prepare set-pieces for every opponent we meet.
''There is nothing different from Nigeria or Argentina, we had the same question before the Argentinian game.
''But you conceded two goals last game from a set-piece so of course maybe there's not a high confidence when you conceded, so we have to try to use that, like all our chances we get, normally we don't get many.''
The Super Eagles flew from their Essentuki base on Thursday morning and will be accommodated at the Hampton-by-Hilton Volgograd Hotel in Volgograd.
