Lateef Omidiji & Nigeria Are Beaten 3-1 By Morocco In African Youth Games Showpiece
Published: July 27, 2018Talented Feyenoord Rotterdam striker Lateef Omidiji and the Nigeria U15 National Team have won silver at the African Youth Games following their 3-1 loss to Morocco in the final on Friday, July 27.
Morocco scored their first goal in the 20th minute and followed it up with a second in the 47th minute.
Nigeria halved the deficit on the hour mark but any hopes of a fight-back were extinguished when the North Africans scored in the 68th minute to make it 3-1.
After the African Youth Games, it's back to the Netherlands for Omidiji but his performance at the tournament was not only impressive, but a great down payment on the future.
Playing for Nigeria U15s was never going to be easy with the conditions, coaching technique and tactics being different from what he's used to, from the United States to Europe, but Omidiji came, saw, conquered, and he can add the AYG silver to his list of accomplishments.
The popular 14-year-old is the first foreign-based player to play for the Nigerian U15 National Team.
