Everton Loanee Henry Sending The Right Message To Rohr With Another Goal For Galatasaray
Published: July 29, 2018Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr must announce his roster for the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles next month and one player in contention to make the squad list is Everton loanee Henry Onyekuru.
Onyekuru scored the only goal of the game in Galatasaray's 1-0 win over Club Africain in a pre-season friendly on Saturday evening.
The 21-year-old twice went close to breaking the deadlock following his introduction in the 50th minute, his header narrowly missed target in the 61st minute and a last ditch tackle prevented him from finding the net on 82 minutes.
In the third minute of stoppage time, the former Anderlecht star was the quickest to react and scored from the rebound after goalkeeper Atef Dkhili parried a shot from Galatasaray's Yunus Akgün.
Last weekend, Onyekuru opened his goalscoring account for the Turkish Super Lig side as they were beaten 2-1 by Valencia.
With his injury problems behind him, he has a chance of being picked for the national team's next international game.
