Europa League : Liverpool Loanee Awoniyi Opens His Account For KAA Gent Vs Jagiellonia Bialystok
Published: August 16, 2018Young Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi has opened his goal account for his Belgian First Division side, Gent after scoring in their 3-1 win over Jagiellonia Bialystok in their UEFA Europa League qualifier on Thursday evening.
The 21-year-old who joined The Buffaloes on a season-long loan deal from Liverpool last month opened the scoring at the GHELAMCO-arena after 13 minutes
Prior to his goal tonight, Awoniyi played four times for his new employers but came alive against their Polish opposition to help Gent into the next round of the draws for Europe's secondary competition.
It was the first goal he has scored in a European competition for the period of his short career.
Further late goals from Roman Yaremchuk and David Jonathan proved just enough to guarantee a 4-1 aggregate victory for Yves Vanderhaeghe's men.
