A round-up of Nigerian players that were in action for their respective clubs in the English Premier League on Wednesday, January 2.

Nigerian players with dual nationalities and have played competitively for the senior national teams of other countries have been omitted.

At Stamford Bridge, it was not an unusual move by manager Sarri as he omitted former Super Eagles star Victor Moses from the match day squad as Chelsea were held to a goalless draw by Southampton.

The Blues number 15 has not appeared in the English topflight since September 29 against Liverpool.

At The John Smith's Stadium, Huddersfield Town lost their eighth successive game, 2-1 to Burnley despite taking the lead through Steve Mounie's 33 minute goal.

Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes the scorers for the visitors in the 40th and 74th minute respectively.

Denmark U21 international Philip Billing had the first chance of the game but his strike from 20 yards out went wide.

While The Terriers number 8 played the full game, teenage defender Ali Koiki was not in Burnley's 18.

Leon Balogun watched proceedings from the bench as Brighton & Hove threw away a two-goal lead as their encounter with West Ham ended 2-2 at the London Stadium.

Dale Stephens and Shane Duffy scored to give the Seagulls a two-goal cushion 12 minutes into the second half but two goals in two minutes from Marko Arnautovic saw West Ham claim a share of the spoils.

Elsewhere, number tens Jordon Ibe and Isaac Success came on in the 81st and 90th minute respectively as Watford and AFC Bournemouth shared the spoils in a six-goal thriller at the Vitality Stadium.

The Hornets established a two-goal lead thanks to a Troy Deeney brace, Nathan Ake halved the deficit and 2-1 became 2-2 when Callum Wilson equalised.

Ken Sema made it 3-2 to Watford in the 38th minute and then Ryan Fraser made it 3-3 which ended the scoring with five minutes left to be played in the first half.
