Published: February 08, 2019Chidozie Awaziem has paid tribute to deceased Argentine striker Emiliano Sala after Police confirmed that his body has been recovered from the aircraft that crashed in the English Channel.
The 28-year-old Sala moved to Cardiff City from Nantes in the January transfer window, becoming the most expensive player in the history of the Welsh club.
On the evening of January 21, the forward flew in a private plane to Wales, along with pilot David Ibbotson, but an hour before the scheduled arrival the aircraft disappeared from the radar.
Awaziem, who played on the same Nantes team as Sala during the 2017-2018 season, expressed his deepest condolences over the death of the former Nantes number nine.
Writing on Instagram, the Super Eagle said : ''ðŸ˜ðŸ˜You will forever be in our heart 😢😢RIP EMI''.
Nantes confirmed on Friday that they will retire the number nine jersey worn by Sala during his time at the club.
