Confirmed: Brighton loan out former Chelsea youth teamer Flower to National League club
Published: January 13, 2025National League club Gateshead have confirmed the signing of Nigerian forward Louis Flower from Premier League side Brigthon & Hove.
In search of first team opportunities, Flower has joined the fifth tier club on loan for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season.
Flower has been on the books of Brighton & Hove since September 2023 , joining the Seagulls from Chelsea, where he progressed through the ranks from U13 to U21 level.
The 20-year-old has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 22 Premier League 2 appearances since joining Brighton, while also making six appearances in the Vertu Trophy.
He is in contention to make his competitive debut for his new employers on Tuesday when they take on FC Halifax Town in the National League.
Commenting on his transfer to Gateshead, Flower told the club's official website: "It feels good - for me, it's the best opportunity.
“There were talks between the clubs and I felt really privileged, because that at the start of January means a club really wants you.”
Flower highlighted his qualities and vowed to contribute goals for Gateshead in their quest for promotion to League Two.
"I'm quite direct, I'm quick and I love being in the box to score - the main goal is to score goals for the team."
Brighton will be keeping close tabs on Flower during his time with Gateshead.
