Nigeria U17s : Barcelona Escola, Go Ahead Eagles Prospects Pass First Trial; Canadian-Based Player Axed
Published: February 17, 2019Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Barcelona Escola whizkid Kelechukwu Ebenezer Ibe-Torti and Go Ahead Eagles striker Lateef Omidiji Jr passed the first round of Golden Eaglets trials holding in Abuja.
While the two teenagers were among the 100 Nigeria U17s hopefuls selected by Manu Garba from a pool of 400, a Canadian-based player has been sent home after failing the trials.
Manu Garba and his assistants took the decision to axe the Canadian-based youngster as he didn't impress in a scrimmage.
The one hundred trialists left in camp were involved in speed and endurance training on day two of the screening exercise.
Omidiji has been the cynosure of all eyes since the start of the get-together and it is claimed the Nigeria U15 international is holding his own against older and more physical players.
Manu Garba has complimented the striker on how well he's doing and makes it a point to shake his hand after every team meeting and training.
