Keanan Bennetts Concentrating On Club Football Amid Nigeria U20 Call-Up Rumors
Published: February 18, 2019
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Tottenham Hotspur product Keanan Bennetts is unlikely to be part of the Nigeria squad at this summer's Fifa U20 World Cup amid speculations in the local media that the left winger is on the radar of the Flying Eagles coaching staff.
Keanan Bennetts' younger brother, Jayden, is a candidate to beef up the Flying Eagles team ahead of the tournament in Poland, having trained with the squad in Abuja before their trip to Niger.
However, the feedback from the elder Bennetts is that he has only just come back from a torn muscle fibre injury and wants to concentrate on club football at the moment.
The Borussia Mönchengladbach winger qualifies to represent the national teams of England, Nigeria and Germany, and it is believed that he is keeping his options open.
Although the 19-year-old Bennetts has international caps for Germany and England youth teams, the Nigerian Federation don't need to request for a change of association as all the matches were non-competitive.
This season, he has made eleven appearances for Borussia Mönchengladbach II in the Regionalliga West.
