Rivalry with Boniface: Bayer Leverkusen striker wants PL move amid Manchester United interest
Published: April 15, 2025
Manchester United's search for attacking reinforcements has taken a fresh twist, with reports linking Bayer Leverkusen forward Patrik Schick to a potential move to Old Trafford.
According to Sky, via Fussballtransfers the 29-year-old Czech striker is firmly on United's radar as the club looks to bolster its frontline ahead of next season.
Schick, who has long expressed a desire to play in the Premier League, could finally see that dream realized.
However, his situation in Leverkusen adds another layer to the story—one that notably involves his teammate, Victor Boniface.
Reports suggest rivalry between the two forwards, coupled with Schick's alleged disagreements with manager Xabi Alonso, have made the Czech international consider a move away.
The Czech is skeptical about extending his stay at the reigning Bundesliga champions and may be offloaded this summer if he fails to agree to a new contract.
Schick has a good goal-scoring record this season, with 23 goals in 40 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen, while Boniface has tallied eleven goals in 26 all-competition appearances.
The Red Devils are in search of a reliable goalscorer for next season as Rasmus Hojlund has yet to live up to expectations this campaign.
Schick has started fifteen Bundesliga matches this season, while Boniface has twelve, largely due to the Nigerian missing eight consecutive games after suffering a hamstring injury on international duty with the Super Eagles last November.
The Praha native, who has been with Leverkusen for nearly five years, is under contract with the Werkself until 2027.
