'He Did Well In His Four Games' - Rohr Reckons Kalu Is The Perfect Replacement For Moses
Published: February 24, 2019Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr reckons Bordeaux star Samuel Kalu is the perfect replacement for Chelsea loanee Victor Moses, who called time on his international career after the 2018 World Cup.
After he was overlooked for selection during his time with Gent, it wasn't until August 2018 that Kalu received his maiden call-up to the national team ahead of an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles.
Kalu has made the Super Eagles right wing role his own, having started their last four competitive games and was deployed as a right wing-back in a crucial tie vs South Africa three months ago.
Speaking to girondins4ever.com, Rohr said : ''I saw what he did in Bordeaux, I see a lot of his matches, every time I'm here I go and see Girondins.
''He did good things, he was tired when he was not feeling well and then he came back. Unfortunately he had this red card in Marseille for an excess of fighting spirit.
''In any case, with Nigeria he had the difficult task of replacing Victor Moses, who announced his international retirement after the World Cup.
''That he did very well, he did very good things during his four games with us. He was one of the best, he really has a good margin for progression.''
Bordeaux coach, Eric Bedouet reinstated Kalu to the starting line-up as his side were beaten 1-0 by Nantes in a French Ligue 1 tie on Sunday, February 24.
