Best Nigerian Players U21
Published: June 27, 2019Throughout its history, Nigeria has produced many great football players.
Because of this, they’ve been able to compete at the highest level for many years, appearing in almost every World Cup in the last few decades.
They also have a lot of success in Africa, winning the African Cup of Nations in 2013 and being among the top teams in every tournament while also being among the sports betting favorites.
Nigeria’s success is almost certain to continue, as they consistently have some of the most promising African players playing for them all the time.
Today, we will talk about some of them, specifically, those that are 21 and under.
Samuel Kalu
He is without a doubt the most talented Nigerian player as of right now.
He currently plays for Bordeaux in Ligue 1, having arrived there last summer after his impressive stint with Gent where he scored 10 goals in 48 games.
He didn’t have the most memorable season at Bordeaux, often appearing as a substitute, but he is still young and we expect many great things from him in the upcoming seasons.
He plays as a winger. His best attributes are his speed, athleticism, and dribbling.
Samuel Chukwueze
Another impressive young winger, with very similar qualities to Kalu, is Villareal youngster, Samuel Chukwueze.
Many big teams are watching him closely after he had an impressive season in La Liga this past year.
We had a very difficult time choosing between him and Kalu, and the Nigerian manager will surely have headaches when deciding which one of them he should play.
However, Chukwueze has shown signs that he can also play as a center-forward which is something the manager will have to consider because it would be a shame for one of them to have to sit on the bench.
Emmanuel Dennis
He is the most versatile out of the players we mentioned so far, as he can play both on the left and right, as a winger, or alternatively as a striker.
He has had two very impressive seasons with Club Brugge, scoring 14 goals. He was close to signing with Milan in January, which is a type of deal he will have to make in the near future if he wants to take the next step in his career.
He has ideal size for an attacking player. He has enough size to be very dangerous in aerial duels, but he is also extremely quick and capable dribbler.
His biggest flaw is that he can sometimes be pretty selfish, but this is fairly common with young attacking players.
Victor Osimhen
Victor was only 18 years old when he joined Wolfsburg in 2017. It was clear that he was too young to play in the Bundesliga, so after two years in which he failed to score a goal in 14 games, he was loaned out to Belgian side Sporting Charleroi.
This was a great move for him, as he scored 19 times in 34 games for them while being their main striker.
He is able to score which such ease mainly because of his great ability to beat offside traps, along with his pace and amazing finishing.
Honorable mentions: Kingsley Michael, Orji Okwonkwo, Chidera Ejuke.
