Super Eagles Coach Sends Veiled Message To Nigerian Federation Over Contract Renewal
Published: November 18, 2019Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has sent a veiled message to the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation over his contract situation, urging Amaju Pinnick to offer him a new deal following a brilliant start to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
If the German is not offered fresh terms, yesterday's 4-2 win against Lesotho would be his last game as coach of the Super Eagles for the 2021 AFCON qualifiers, bearing in mind that the matchday three fixtures will hold in August 2020, two months after the expiration of his current agreement with the Nigerian Federation.
''Again I am not here to speak about my contract, we have a good team, I enjoy to coach this team of course,'' Rohr told reporters.
''We have a project also, we have young players, we are progressing and we started very well the qualifiers and the qualifiers will continue after the end of my contract.
''The ball is in the camp of the officials now.''
