Players, coaches helpless as NPFL now supervises termination of contracts and unpaid wages

Players and coaches are helpless in the midst of unlawful termination of contracts and unpaid wages as the handlers of the NPFL turn a deaf ear to the protest of the main actors of the league.

The NPFL mid season window has opened another can of worm of the league body willful blindness to the issue of unpaid wages in the league as it is now fashionable for NPFL clubs to unlawfully terminate players or coaches contracts and non payment of outstanding salary as the order of the day.

Many players who went on break have been verbally informed not to resume after the break, some recieved text messages of contract termination and others exited from the clubs official WhatsApp group signifying their exit from the club.

The little gains of the well celebrated withdrawal of licences of newly registered players of clubs who failed to obey the NFF Arbitration Committee order which forced some clubs to comply with the ruling is fast being eroded as clubs are being encouraged to return to their default settings of Impunity by the NPFL.

Clubs like Lobi Stars, Bayelsa Utd, Enyimba FC, Plateau Utd, Katsina United, Kano Pillars quickly complied with the directives and settled their outstanding and compensations in line with the NFF PSAC.

Unfortunately because of the effectiveness of the NFF PSAC, unknown forces have ensured they never had another arbitration seating again since June 2024 till date.

Abia Warriors, Heartland and Akwa Utd refused to comply by making payment to the affected players and their licenses reinstated through the backdoor by the management of NPFL, as we speak they are yet to comply with PSAC ruling and all the NPFL do is to keep mute over the matter.

When the affected players were contacted they were very disappointed with the NFF/NPFL and everyone involved for their refusal to enforce the judgement and denying them earnings from their sweats.

Recently several clubs have unlawfully terminated some coaches and players contracts without adequate agreement or compensation as the case maybe.

Some of these aggrieved players and coaches submitted complaints before the NPFL and NFF.

No one is touching their complaints as the documents are gathering dust on the desk of the NPFL COO and NFF, acts which are capable of putting the league in disrepute.

Despite the NPFL being given the approval by the NFF to carry out summary jurisdiction over cases of contract breach in a letter sighted by yours sincerely, the NPFL impunity continues.

It's so unbelievable and unfortunate that professional footballers and coaches are being treated like tissue paper that can be used and dumped without adequate regards for their contracts and the height of it is that those that are supposed to enforce rules and regulations concerning issues are the ones at the forefront of acting other wise.

The question posed to the NFF and NPFL management is "doesn't unpaid wages and unlawful termination of Contracts bring the League into disrepute?
