Red-Hot Chelsea Loanee Eligible For France & England, Ugbo Reacts To interest From Nigeria
Published: November 23, 2019In-form Chelsea loanee Ike Ugbo has reacted to reports suggesting that he is on the radar of the Nigeria Football Federation ahead of a possible call-up to the Super Eagles in the near future.
Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported in March 2018 that a Chelsea wonderkid held secret talks with the Nigerian Federation over committing his international future to Nigeria, and it can now be revealed that Ugbo was the player that showed up at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Ealing for a meeting with NFF higher-ups.
The Roda number 9 has caps for England's development teams, U17 and U20, and appeared for the Young Lions at the 2015 U17 EURO and 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup, meaning he has to request for a change of association if he switches allegiance to Nigeria.
Born in the English capital, London, the 21-year-old also has the eligibility to play for world champions France through his mother.
When asked if Nigeria are monitoring him, Ugbo told the official website of the Dutch Eerste Divisie, Keuken Kampioen ''I heard a few things but I'm focusing on this season, scoring as many goals as possible. I've no control over it, I wait until I actually have a choice and then I choose.
''I hope the choice comes, it is always nice if people are interested in you.''
Including his goal against Go Ahead Eagles on Friday, November 22, Ugbo has scored in each of his last four matches for Roda JC
