Troost-Ekong A Shadow Of Himself Since Super Eagles Duty But Gets Backing From Udinese Coach
Published: December 21, 2019On the eve of Udinese's Serie A match against Cagliari, manager Luca Gotti spoke to reporters at the mandatory pre-match press conference and one of the questions he addressed was related to the lack of form of William Troost-Ekong.
Troost-Ekong's performance has been poor since his return to Italy from international duty with the Super Eagles in November, making a number of mistakes leading to Udinese conceding goals.
The Bianconeri have conceded nine goals in their last four matches in the Italian top-flight, with the Super Eagles assistant captain operating in the center of defence.
Asked if Troost-Ekong will be retained despite the delicate moment he's passing through, Gotti was quoted as saying by Udinese's official website : "Players are not all the same from a character point of view, the coach's sensitivity is always to bring out the best in everyone.
"As far as Ekong is concerned, I think he still needs this trust."

Former Tottenham Hotspur youth-teamer Ekong joined Udinese in August 2018 after playing for teams in Netherlands, Norway, Belgium and Turkey.
