Struggling Udinese Defender Ekong Under The Spotlight Against Lukaku's Inter Milan
Published: February 02, 2020Super Eagles assistant captain William Troost-Ekong will come under
the spotlight when Udinese face Inter Milan in the Italian Serie A on
Sunday night, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The
former Tottenham Hotspur youth-teamer is certain to be named in the
matchday squad as manager Luca Gotti has included him on a 20-man roster
for today's fixture at the Dacia Arena.
Whether
Troost-Ekong features is another matter as there are concerns about his
fitness after suffering muscle cramps in his right leg which led to his
substitution in the 2-0 loss to Parma last weekend.
The
central defender has been off form since the start of this season,
making mistakes upon mistakes, leading to goals conceded by The
Bianconeri.
Today's game won't come easy for
Troost-Ekong as he could battle one of the most feared and physical
strikers in Europe, Romelu Lukaku, who has tallied 18 goals in all
competitions since his move from Manchester United.
In
addition, Inter manager Antonio Conte may decide to use Alexis Sanchez
and new signing Christian Eriksen in offensive positions, and this would
make life more difficult for Ekong and his defensive partners.
Italian-born
Nigerian striker Stefano Okaka is also in contention to play against
Inter Milan, having made Udinese's matchday squad.
