Former Manchester United Captain Sends Message To Ighalo After Inheriting No 25 Shirt
Former Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia has sent a message to Red Devils deadline day signing Odion Ighalo after the former Nigeria international was allocated the number 25 shirt for the remainder of the 2019-2020 season.

The exit of the Ecuador right-back from Manchester United last summer opened the door for a new number 25 at the Old Trafford outfit and no player was assigned the shirt for the first half of the campaign.

The likes of Nick Powell, Danny Simpson, David Jones, Quinton Fortune, Jordi Cruyff, Kevin Pilkington and Gary Walsh have won Manchester United's number 25 jersey in the past but the most successful player to wear the shirt is undoubtedly Valencia, who won the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield during his ten-year association with the Old Trafford outfit.

Writing on Twitter, Valencia wished Ighalo all the best, "I always saw the number 25 as an opportunity to work beyond my dreams. It has been my inspiration and became my amulet. I wish you all the success now with this shirt brother!"

The number 25 is a hallowed jersey in these parts made popular by Arsenal and Super Eagles legend Nwankwo Kanu, and it's the same jersey number Wilfred Ndidi uses at Leicester City.
