Amoo, Sidos FC Set The Record Straight On Rumours Nigeria U17 Star Recently Signed Hammarby Deal
Published: February 07, 2020Akinkunmi Amoo and Sidos FC Chairman, Jimmy Dickson Oseyamen have set the record straight on rumours suggesting that the Nigeria U17 international recently signed a contract with Swedish Allsvenskan side Hammarby.
Amoo and Oseyamen have not denied that Hammarby are among the clubs battling for the services of the Golden Eaglets dazzler but have stressed that nothing has been signed yet as the player is still in the Nigeria capital Abuja awaiting the outcome of his visa application to Scandinavia.
Article 19 of the FIFA regulations on the status and transfer of players states that players are permitted to sign contracts with foreign clubs only if they are above the age of 18, and the rulebook has been cited by Sidos FC supremo.
Asked to comment on the true situation of things, Amoo told allnigeriasoccer.com : "No, I have not yet joined Hammarby, I am going there for a training tour. No contract has been signed yet. I am still in Abuja, so how can I sign a contract? I pray soon I will join a foreign club".
Sidos FC Chairman, Oseyamen added : "We are working towards that goal but no document has been signed yet, talks are ongoing.
"Hammarby want Amoo to sign but he is a minor and cannot sign the deal until June. We are negotiating with them".
Amoo was the Golden Eaglets top assist provider at the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup, setting up goals in matches against Ecuador, Australia and Netherlands during the tournament in Brazil.
