'We Are Trying To Finalise The Deals' - Arsenal Coach Gives Update On Saka Contract Situation
Published: June 15, 2020Speaking at Monday's pre-match press conference via Zoom call ahead of the trip to Manchester City, Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta delivered an update on Bukayo Saka's contract situation.
Last month , it was heavily speculated that the Hale End Academy product had signed a new contract based on his social media activities, but allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported last week that an agreement was far from being wrapped up as his Nigerian agent, Emeka Obasi was still negotiating with the Gunners higher-ups.
Arteta confirmed as much when he admitted to reporters that they are trying to resolve the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Saka's sagas.
In quotes carried by arsenal.com, the Spanish football tactician stated : "We are trying, as a club, to finalise the deals that are more urgent and are a priority for us.
"The ones you are talking about [Bukayo and Auba] - they are both really important, not just for now but for the future of the club as well and if the club has something to announce, they will do it in the right moment."
Saka was having a great season before football was suspended in March, having been involved in 12 goals (3 goals, 9 assists) from 29 matches.
