Left-footed Center Back Famewo Makes Norwich Matchday Squad In Loss To Burnley
Published: July 18, 2020Left-footed Nigerian central defender Akin Famewo was named in Norwich City's matchday squad in their final home game of the 2019-2020 Premier League season, a 2-0 loss to Burnley on Saturday, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The 21-year-old watched proceedings from the bench for the entirety of the game at Carrow Road.
Famewo, who is also comfortable as a left-back, was also an unused substitute in a 5-1 loss to Aston Villa back in October.
He captained Norwich City's U23 team in the first half of the season, before joining Scottish Premiership side St Mirren on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
Republic of Ireland U21 international of Nigerian descent Adam Idah, who has been used sparingly by manager Daniel Farke since he exploded into the first team, was introduced off the bench in the 86th minute.
Reduced to nine men following the dismissals of Emiliano Buendia and Josip Drmic, Norwich City went behind after a brilliant overhead kick from Chris Wood, before Ben Godfrey compounded their agony when he netted an own goal in the 81st minute.
Norwich City were relegated from the Premier League for a record fifth time last weekend after a 4-0 loss to West Ham United.
