Ex-Barca Star On Liverpool's Attempt To Sign Osimhen, Comparisons With Chelsea Hero Drogba
Published: July 22, 2020Former Barcelona winger Emmanuel Amuneke has claimed that he's unaware of Liverpool's attempt to hijack Victor Osimhen's proposed move to Napoli.
The European champions have been heavily linked with a move for the Nigeria international but Napoli have stolen a march on their Premier League rivals and are poised to announce the signing of the striker.
Former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles coach Amuneke, who previously tutored Osimhen, reckons that his former pupil will be joining Napoli this summer.
Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb on Liverpool wanting to hijack Osimhen's transfer to Napoli, Amuneke said : "I don’t know anything, but I sincerely hope that Osimhen can sign up for the club partenopeo, and continue the path in Europe from the protagonist.
"After the exploits at Charleroi to Lille, Naples, right now, is the right place for his definitive consecration in the championship as in international cups".
Osimhen's physical presence has seen him draw comparisons with Didier Drogba but Amuneke has stressed that the Lille star is not yet on the same level as the Chelsea legend.
"Victor is still young, must do a lot of other things to reach the level of Didier. But, in my opinion, one day will also become stronger than him. Maybe just in Serie A," added the retired Nigeria international.
