Published: August 19, 2020Real Madrid have booked their place in the semifinals of the 2019-2020 UEFA Youth League after thrashing Inter Milan 3-0 at the Colovray Stadium in Nyon on Wednesday evening, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
In doing so, Los Blancos U19 team equaled Barcelona and Chelsea's record of four appearances in the semifinals of the UEFA Youth League.
Real Madrid were losing semifinalists in 2014, 2016 and 2017; Barcelona have won the competition twice and reached the last four in 2017 and 2019; Chelsea were winners in 2015 and 2016, and were runners-up in 2018 and 2019.
Against Inter Milan in the quarterfinal today, Nigerian midfielder Marvin Akinlabi was named in Real Madrid's starting lineup and was on parade for 74 minutes before making way for Sintes.
The 20-year-old, who is also eligible to represent South Korea and Spain national teams, broke the deadlock nineteen minutes into the second half, finishing off a training ground move from a corner.
Miguel converted from the spot to double the advantage in the 76th minute before Morante sealed the win with a headed goal seven minutes from time.
At least one Nigerian player is set to feature in next week's final as Real Madrid will be facing Bryan Okoh, Karim Adeyemi and Chukwubuike Adamu's Red Bull Salzburg in one of the semifinal matches on Saturday, August 22.
