Onyeka Named In Matchday Squad As Midtjylland Seek To Avoid Unwanted European Record
Published: December 01, 2020Frank Onyeka was named in FC Midtjylland's traveling squad for their UEFA Champions League matchday five fixture against Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium (Bergamo) on Tuesday night, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Manager Brian Priske has picked a squad of 23 players, meaning the Nigeria international is certain to be included on the team sheet provided he does not suffer an injury in the pre-match warmup.
It is worth noting that 23 players are permitted to be named in the matchday squad and five substitutes allowed for Champions League matches this season.
Onyeka has started all the eight matches contested by the Danish champions in Europe this season, going the distance in all except the 4-0 loss to Atalanta on matchday one in which he was substituted three minutes from time.
FC Midtjylland are seeking to avoid setting an unwanted Champions League record in their remaining two matches against Atalanta and Liverpool.
If they end the group stage without a point, the Wolves will beat Nordsjælland's record-low of one point from the 2012-2013 season.
