'We Conceded The First Goal After 60th Minute' - Odemwingie On Lokomotiv's Defeat To Bayern
Published: December 10, 2020Former Nigeria international Peter Odemwingie has insisted that Lokomotiv Moscow did not do badly despite losing 2-0 to current champions Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Railwaymen had a decent Champions League campaign, holding Spanish giants Atletico Madrid to two draws and got a point from their trip to Salzburg but it was not enough for them to even finish third in Group A.
For more than an hour Bayern Munich could not break down a stubborn Lokomotiv Moscow defence until Niklas Süle opened the scoring after which Eric-Maxim Choupo Moting added a second ten minutes from time.
Speaking to Sport Express, Odemwinge said : "We conceded the first goal after 60 minutes. Lokomotiv performed with dignity, all the more they created chances.
"In the first match we lost 2-1, now they showed themselves well again. The performance is decent, which means that the team is listening to performances in the Champions League.
"For the third year in a row Lokomotiv takes the last place in the group. This is a difficult process, you have to knock on the door. So far, Lokomotiv is not strong enough, but there is a positive trend".
Odemwingie represented Lokomotiv Moscow for three years, 2007-2010, and is credited with 23 goals in 81 appearances for the capital outfit.
