'Onuachu Was Pulled Down' - Ex-Ref Insists Genk Were Denied Penalty In Loss To Anderlecht
Former Belgian referee Serge Gumienny has criticized the match officials for not awarding a penalty to Racing Genk during their 1-0 loss to Anderlecht in a Belgian First Division A match last Friday.

In a game involving four players of Nigerian descent, the home team secured all three points thanks to Lukas Nmecha's winning goal from the spot in the 59th minute.

Genk fumed at the decision not to award a penalty after Onuachu was fouled in the box and the VAR did not intervene despite the clear error.

"I agree with John Van den Brom 100% when he complains about that mistake, Onuachu was pulled down with both hands. That should have been a penalty," Gumienny said to Het Belang van Limburg (via Voetbal Primeur).

Assuming the penalty was given, Onuachu would have taken the kick as he's Genk's designated penalty taker.

Three of his fourteen league goals this season were scored from the spot - against Beerschot V.A, KV Oostende and Eupen.

One-cap Nigeria international Cyriel Dessers and Paul Mukairu were the other players of Nigerian descent on parade at Lotto Park.
