PSV's Madueke Joins 2015 U17 World Cup Winner As Nigeria's Top Assist Provider In Europe
Published: December 23, 2020By providing two assists for PSV Eindhoven in their 4-1 rout of VVV Venlo in the Dutch Eredivisie on Tuesday night, former Tottenham Hotspur youth-teamer Nonso Madueke has joined 2015 World Cup winner Funsho Bamgboye as Nigeria's top assist provider in Europe (all competitions) in the 2020-2021 season, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Fehérvár winger Bamgboye has seven assists to his name, same as Madueke who set up the last two goals scored by Cody Gakpo and Adrian Fein in the win vs VVV Venlo.
Madueke has served up five assists in the Dutch top-flight compared to Bamgboye's six in the NB. I, while the PSV starlet finished the group stage of the Europa League with two assists and the ex-Golden Eaglet got his other assist in the Hungarian Magyar Kupa.
This season, the 18-year-old has been involved in 13 goals (6 goals, 7 assists) from 20 appearances of which seven were starts.
Madueke had a hand in an impressive 20 goals (11 goals, 9 assists) for PSV's youth teams in 2019-2020 before he was permanently promoted to the first team.
Olympics bronze medalist Sadiq Umar ended the 2019-2020 campaign as Nigeria's top assist provider in all competitions with seventeen for Partizan Belgrade.
