'I Have To Be Honest' - Troost-Ekong Blames Himself For First Goal Conceded By Watford Vs QPR
Published: February 02, 2021Watford missed the chance to close the gap on second-placed Swansea City following their shock 2-1 loss to Queens Park Rangers at Vicarage Road on Monday night.
Troy Deeney put the Hornets ahead from the spot in the 52nd minute, only for Charlie Austin to restore parity through a header with seventeen minutes left on the clock, before Adomah's winning goal in the 90th minute.
Super Eagles center back William Troost-Ekong confessed that he should have done better in the build-up to the equalising goal, admitting that he was on the wrong side of Austin.
"We never really got going, especially in the first half, " Troost-Ekong said to Watford's official website.
"After the goal we got a bit of a lift, but we have to be honest. I have to be honest with myself as well, I should’ve done better with the first goal.
"It’s been difficult because we were defending a lot and you’re going to make mistakes, and today QPR capitalised on those. We need to get more on the front foot."
