Super Eagles defender Balogun undergoes late fitness test ahead of Glasgow Rangers vs St Mirren
Published: March 05, 2021Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has revealed that Leon Balogun will undergo a late fitness test ahead of his side's Scottish Premiership clash against St Mirren on Saturday.
The Nigeria international was spotted training with the Rangers first teamers, including Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey, on Friday.
Former Liverpool captain Gerrard assured that the Super Eagle will be named in the matchday squad if he comes through the final training session unscathed.
Balogun sat out Rangers' 1-0 win at Livingston FC on Wednesday due to a quad injury he sustained in the Europa League match against Royal Antwerp eight days ago.
Providing a fitness update on his squad on Friday, Gerrard said : "Balogun will return to the squad, he will train this morning. Assuming he comes through that he'll be added into the mix.
"Roofe and Jack are on-course to return to training after the weekend, Tavernier will be a bit longer."
