Crotone's Super Eagles striker hits double figures in Serie A for the first time after brace vs Torino
Published: March 07, 2021Nigeria international Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo has hit double figures in goals for the first time in the Italian Serie A after bagging a brace in Crotone's 4-2 hammering of Torino at the Stadio Ezio Scida on Sunday evening.
Simy has hit the double digit mark in goals scored after twenty six appearances in the top-flight.
In the 27th minute, the Super Eagle made no mistake from the spot to give Cotone the lead after Rodriguez intercepted a header from Messias in the area with his hand.
He then restored The Pythagoreans' one-goal advantage in the 54th minute after Rolando Mandragora brought the game back to parity just before halftime.
In two previous seasons in the Serie A , Simy scored 10 goals combined in 2016-2017 and 2017-2018, a tally he has equaled playing eighteen fewer games this term.
The former Portimonense SC and Gil Vicente FC man last figured for the Super Eagles against Argentina at the 2018 World Cup and it appears he is behind Racing Genk's Paul Onuachu in manager Gernot Rohr's pecking order of strikers.
Although Simy has impressed individually, Crotone remain rooted to the bottom of the Serie A table with fifteen points from 26 games.
