'It was a great goal' - Tottenham product Madueke reacts to his thunderbolt strike for PSV
Published: March 08, 2021Super Eagles target Nonso Madueke was delighted to score a brilliant goal in the closing minutes of PSV Eindhoven's 3-1 win at Fortuna Sittard on Sunday evening.
The Tottenham Hotspur academy product was back in the PSV squad after sitting out the last nine games in all competitions due to injury.
Fortuna Sittard were threatening an equaliser until Maduke, on as a substitute in the 67th minute, sealed the three points when he started a solo run before unleashing a 20-yard thunderbolt with three minutes left on the clock.
"It was a great goal and I am glad I have been able to help the team today," Madueke told PSV's official website after seeing the replay of his goal.
"Scoring a goal and winning the match. This is awesome. We will do our very best to finish as high in the league as possible."
The Anglo-Nigerian winger expressed delight after returning to action from an injury that sidelined him for several weeks.
"I picked up an injury at an awkward moment in the season, with so many big games scheduled to take place.
"It is hard to come back, but I’m delighted to have returned to action and fortunately we will play some big games shortly".
Madueke, who celebrates his nineteenth birthday on Wednesday, has contributed to an impressive 17 goals (9 goals, 8 assists) in 25 matches across all competitions so far this season.
