Rohr on Super Eagles training session, fitness update, Lagos pitch, travel plans to Republic of Benin
Published: March 25, 2021Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr spoke to the media shortly after his team's training session at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The German football tactician was satisfied with the session and confirmed that the players are not carrying any injuries before their trip to the Benin capital, Porto-Novo on Friday.
Rohr ran the rule over the twenty four players called up for the AFCON qualifiers, including Leicester City striker Keelchi Iheanacho who linked up with the squad on Wednesday morning.
"The training was okay, it was a long training today because today is Wednesday and we still have the time to recover, so we wanted to physically work hard today," Rohr said.
"The weather was good so we could do one hour and 38 minutes which is a long time for a training session but we didn't train this morning so we could do more this afternoon.
"We are satisfied about the pitch, they worked very well on it and now we can play football on this pitch.
"It was a good training session, no injuries, tomorrow again we will do it, and then after tomorrow we will go to Porto-Novo and from Porto-Novo to Cotonou and back to Porto-Novo because we have one training session in Porto-Novo where we will play."
Nigeria will qualify for next year's Africa Cup of Nations with a draw against the Squirrels, and will clinch first place in Group L with a win.
