Werder Bremen's German-born fullback reveals he has been contacted by Super Eagles coach Rohr
Promising Werder Bremen fullback Felix Agu has revealed that he has been contacted by Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr about switching his international allegiance to Nigeria.

Born in Osnabrück, Germany, Agu qualifies to represent the three-time African champions through his father, who originally hails from Nigeria.

However, the German Football Association have taken the first step to cap-tie the defender by handing him two caps in international friendlies for their U21 team, against Greece and Spain back in 2019.

In his first season in the German Bundesliga, Agu has been involved in thirteen matches, scoring one goal and providing an assist, and has featured in every matchday squad apart from the games against Hoffenheim,
Eintracht Frankfurt and Cologne he missed because he was recovering from coronavirus.

When asked if he has been contacted by the Nigerian Federation and Rohr, Agu told Fehmarn 24 Heiligenhafen : "Yes, there was. But after my first invitation to a national team, i.e. the U21s, I first decided on Germany because I wanted to stay in my familiar environment. It felt better, but it wasn't a decision against Nigeria."

The 21-year-old Agu was left out of Germany's squad to the ongoing European U21 Championship group stages.

He ended a ten-year association with hometown club VfL Osnabrück last summer by signing a multi-year contract with Werder Bremen.
