Terem Moffi on target but Lorient are well beaten by Lens in French Ligue 1
Published: April 11, 2021Terem Moffi continues to push for an invitation to the national team ahead of the World Cup qualifiers on the back of his fine form for Lorient.
The left-footed striker got on the scoresheet at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis on Sunday afternoon but it was futile with Lorient losing 4-1 to Lens on gameweek 32 in the French Ligue 1.
Though Moffi had fired blanks in his last seven games in the division prior to the trip to Lens, he contributed in other ways, with two assists in games against Lille and Stade Brest during his barren run.
Gael Kakuta gave the home team the lead from the spot in the 16th minute but Moffi brought the game back to parity in the 29th minute.
Goals from Corentin Jean, Arnaud Kalimuendo-Muinga and Simon Banza condemned Lorient to defeat.
With nine goals from 26 league appearances, Moffi is just one goal away from reaching the double-digit in terms of goals.
The 21-year-old was named on the Super Eagles standby list for last month's Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against the Republic of Benin and Lesotho.
