Lorient striker Moffi reaches double figures in goals after brace against Marseille
Published: April 17, 2021Super Eagles hopeful Terem Moffi was on target as Lorient were defeated 3-2 by Marseille in a French Ligue 1 match at the Orange VĂ©lodrome on Saturday evening.
Moffi is having an excellent season and the fact that he was named on the Super Eagles standby list for last month's Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers is a testament to the inroads he has made in his career over the last one year.
He has returned eleven goals and three assists in 27 appearances in the French top-flight since joining Lorient in October 2020.
Against Marseille, Moffi opened the scoring in the 19th minute but two goals in the space of three second half minutes from Dimitri Payet and Pol Lirola put Marseille 2-1 up.
The former KV Kortrijk man thought he had given Lorient a share of the spoils when he equalised in the 70th minute, only for Lirola to score an injury-time winner.
Moffi netted in five consecutive league matches earlier in the season.
The only Nigerian player who has scored more than Moffi in the top-five European Leagues this season is Crotone striker Simy.
