Man Utd's Dutch-Nigerian striker continues purple patch with goal and assist vs Leeds U18s
Published: May 01, 2021Dutch-Nigerian striker Dillon Hoogewerf continued his purple patch for Manchester United youth team by scoring for the fourth game running in the U18 Premier League as the Red Devils came from behind to defeat Leeds United 4-2 on Saturday afternoon.
The last game Hoogewerf has neither scored nor provided an assist was the 2-0 win at Everton on March 20.
Leeds United led 1-0 at the break with Max Dean scoring from a few yards out in the 20th minute.
Three minutes after the restart, Hoogewerf brought the game back to parity when he headed in a brilliant cross from McNeil, who then made it 2-1 on 54 minutes.
McNeil registered his second goal of the game in the 57th minute, assisted by the Netherlands youth international of Nigerian descent.
The number 9 fired home from a narrow angle after a superb ball over the defence by Hoogewerf.
Hugely influential for Manchester United U18s in 2020-2021, Hoogewerf is one goal away from reaching double figures in both goals and assists in the league, having already netted nine times and assisted ten.
Central midfielder of Nigerian parentage, Maximilano Oyedele came off the bench for Manchester United in the closing minutes vs Leeds United - his second appearance in the U18 Premier League.
