Leicester City working on deal to sign Lille midfielder to provide competition for Ndidi
Published: May 02, 2021Leicester City are in the market for a holding midfielder capable of providing competition for the likes of Wilfred Ndidi and Youri Tielemans, according to reports.
Transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano says the Foxes are working on a deal to sign Lille's France U21 international of Senegalese descent Boubakary Soumaré.
The Foxes are in pole position to sign Soumaré amid interest from other Premier League teams and negotiations are ongoing.
The Frenchman has the same characteristics as Ndidi as he is capable of playing as a central midfielder or defensive midfielder, adding to his excellent passing and distribution skills.
This season, Ndidi has remained influential for the Foxes; Brendan Rodgers team have won only five of the twelve matches the number 25 wasn't in the squad and racked up fourteen victories from a possible 22 with the Nigeria international given minutes.
Signed from Racing Genk in January 2017, Ndidi has a contract with Leicester City until the end of the 2023-2024 season.
