Bayern ahead of Liverpool, Man City in race for Aston Villa midfielder Chukwuemeka
Published: May 05, 2021According to Football Insider, German champions Bayern Munich are leading the race to sign Austrian-born Nigerian midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka.
English Premier League duo Liverpool and Manchester City have been credited with an interest in the Aston Villa wonderkid but it is the Bundesliga giants who are currently the favourites to sign the highly-rated 17-year-old.
Chukwuemeka has been likened to former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira due to his build and his ability to drive past players.
The meteoric rise of Jamal Musiala, who joined Bayern from Chelsea two years ago and is now a full Germany international, could sway the decision of the former Northampton Town starlet to move to Germany.
In addition, Jude Bellingham, still only 17, broke into Borussia Dortmund's starting lineup straightaway following his transfer from Birmingham City last summer.
Chukwuemeka has been embedded with Aston Villa's first team since December but has yet to make his professional debut though he was named in matchday squads for Premier League games against Leicester City and Manchester City this year.
Aston Villa are looking to tie him down to a new deal when he turns 18 in six months time.
